Software which tells you if you are annoying or boring
A Cambridge scientist has created a piece of software which can warm you if you are annoying or boring by analysing the facial reactions of your interlocutor. It is designed for people with mild autism, but might have wider applications.

Ian Blair is wise to keep his tape running
The chief constable of the Metropolitan Police, Ian Blair, is in trouble for taping his calls with government figures and the IPCC. Why so? It is not clear that he has released the contents of these tapes, which would be the civil (not criminal) offence.
Ian Blair seems wise, in particular, to wish to record the views of Attorney General Lord Goldsmith, the man whose interpretation of international law has in the past proved contentious. Goldsmith, it will be remembered, told Tony Blair that it was possible legally to invade Iraq, despite his Defence Minister's knowledge that any Iraqi unconventional weapons were no threat to Britain, a fact that would seem to remove the sole legal justification.
